Privacy Policy for Wedge and Dash
Effective [date]
Wedge and Dash is an organic chemistry practice app made by Wedge and Dash ("we"). This policy explains what happens to information when you use the app.
The short version
- You don't need an account to play. Without one, we collect no personal information about you, and your progress is saved only on your phone.
- Joining the leaderboard is optional. If you join, we keep your email address, a generated display name and your Daily Challenge results, so the leaderboard can show your streak.
- You can delete your account inside the app at any time.
- The app has no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.
What is saved on your phone
The app saves your Daily Challenge attempts, your streak and statistics, which days you have played, and whether you have seen the tutorial. This stays on your device and is not sent to us. Your phone's own backup (iCloud or Google) may include it, under Apple's or Google's policies. Deleting the app deletes it from your phone.
What the app sends over the internet
Questions. When you are online, the app may ask our server for an extra practice question or for the day's challenge. The request contains only the topic or the date. Our server is hosted by Supabase. Like any website, the server receives your device's internet (IP) address when the app connects, and the hosting provider may keep it briefly in logs for security and to keep the service running. We don't use it to identify you.
Connection check. To tell whether you are online, the app may contact a standard connection-check address run by Google. Nothing about you or your progress is included.
The app works fully offline using its built-in questions.
If you join the leaderboard (optional)
What we keep:
- Your email address, used only to sign you in. We send a one-time sign-in code to it. We don't send newsletters or marketing.
- An account ID, a random code our server creates to link your results to your account.
- A display name that the app generates for you, such as "Swift Benzene". You can generate a new one before you join, but you can't type your own. Once you join, your name can't be changed. It is shown publicly on the leaderboard.
- Your Daily Challenge results: which days you solved and in how many attempts. Your streak on the leaderboard is worked out from these, starting from the day you join.
When you join, you confirm that you are 13 or older and accept our Terms of Use.
This information is stored by Supabase, which hosts our server. Sign-in codes are sent by Resend. We use your information only to sign you in and run the leaderboard. We don't sell it, and we share it only with the companies listed below, to run the app.
Deleting your account: tap Delete account in the app. This permanently removes your email address, account ID, display name and all your results from our server, and your name disappears from the leaderboard straight away. Once a week we save a private copy of the leaderboard data, so we can recover from mistakes. Each copy is deleted after 30 days, so a deleted account is gone from our copies within 30 days. A copy of your sign-in emails may stay with Resend for up to 30 days, and is then deleted. Your streak saved on your phone is not affected. You can also ask us to delete it by email.
Sharing your result
If you tap Share Result, the app opens your phone's own share menu with a short text about the puzzle and how many attempts you took. You choose whether and where to send it. We don't receive a copy.
Age
The app is intended for people aged 13 and over. It is not directed to children under 13. Joining the leaderboard requires confirming you are 13 or older, and we don't knowingly keep information about anyone younger. If you believe a child under 13 has joined, contact us and we will delete the account.
Other companies involved
- Supabase hosts our question server and, for people who join the leaderboard, stores the account information described above.
- Resend sends the one-time sign-in code to your email address. It receives your email address and the code, keeps a copy of the sign-in email for 30 days, and stores it in the United States.
- Apple and Google run the app stores you download the app from. Their own privacy policies apply to the stores.
Your choices
You can use the app without an account, and offline, at any time. To remove what the app has saved on your phone, delete the app. To remove your leaderboard account, use Delete account in the app or email us.
Changes to this policy
If we change what the app collects, for example by adding analytics or a new way to sign in, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
